Pixies Crafty Snippets - Week 48

As usual, here's my snippets card for this week:
I've longed for this Memory Box 'Flowering Christmas Tree' die for ages and it certainly didn't disappoint. The card stock popped out of the die easily (I used a pokey tool through the holes at the back of the die first which seemed to make the little bitty bits come away so much easier than I'd expected).

I used:

- A6 white card stock

- snippet of white card to die cut the tree, then just added a few little pearls

- snippet of white card embossed with a Crafts-Too embossing folder called 'Scrollwork Frame'

- snippet of midnight blue  sparkly card and a snippet of matt silver card

- sticky pads to adhere the centre panel to the scrollwork background for some dimension

No roll call this week of course but those of you who came to play have made some fabulous cards and other goodies such as a calendar, a little coffin and a Christmas wreath. To go to look if you haven't already done so - this is the link to last week's challenge and Mr Linky here.

And, the winner of the Sheena Douglass 'Mistletoe' stamp set is Hettie, aka Sam! I'm sure it will be well loved and used by Sam who really was keen to win and entered three times this week, thereby increasing the odds of course, although the draw is always random outta my sun hat so it truly was fate.

Which brings me onto something else concerning Sam - it's your week girl!!! I thought that sometimes there would be a little showcase spot on here when something truly wonderful shouldn't be missed. So, if you only look at one snippets entry this week, but it would be great if you find time to see them all of course - please make sure it's this fabulous wreath made by Sam - totally stunning!!! It really is breathtakingly beautiful - here's a peek:
You can see lots more detail over at Sam's blog.

So, what's gone on this week in the Playground - it's been quieter (which worries me as am sure there's plotting going on), and last I hear there was a proposal for a flipping chestnut brazier to be installed along with a secret stash of mulled wine! Too much whispering and quiet scurrying going on for my liking :(

Remember, it's Rudolph Day again this coming week over at Sarn's - and Hazel's latest challenge is to 'make a Christmas card for someone special'. A very true observation that we often leave those special cards right until the last minute so why not combine both challenges?

If you want to join in the Playground and keep using up those snippets - the Playground is open all of this coming week but it will close on Saturday 1st December at noon, UK time. Mr Linky is below as usual.

The only conditions to playing nicely in the Snippet Playground are that your card (or anything else you wish to bring here to show) must be made by using up snippets (card, paper, lace and ribbon are all fine), and a link back to here in your own blog posting will mean that you'll be included in the Weekly Roll Call. Oh, and no nipping or hair pulling of course :)

  3. That is so exsqueezit, Di!! MB dies are so enchanting and you've done this so beautifully!

And no one's up to nuffin at the playground. I don't see why you keep looking out the window. Here look at my turkey decorations. Oh, I dropped one. Would you mind picking that up for me, my knees you know.

    (Run, Hettie, run!!)

Oh, thank you, Di. Now, just look at the scalloped edges on some of the layers and ... oops, gotta go!

    Hearts!

  4. This is a stunning card! That die is fabulous! Love the pearls, they really set it off.

I have found a trick with these intricate dies...I tear off a piece of wax paper slighty bigger than the die. place it between the die and the paper and roll it through. The paper and the wax paper slide right out of the die. You then sort of rub the wax paper and the paper together with your thumb and finger (like opening a plastic bag at the grocery store) and the wax paper falls right off.
Just in case it is called something different in England, wax paper is
the thin waxed paper that comes in a box like tin foil. People wrap sandwiches in it to slide in lunch kits.

  14. Just popping back to say, yes, I see you were right! I was the lucky one to post first. I hadn't even noticed as I was camped on on your back stoop waiting for the lights to come on inside so I knew I was OK to post. I scurried away without ringing the bell as I didn't want you to have to put the coffee on in your PJ's. lol

Yes, you probly could shop in your pj's (if you were at Walmart!!! Many of the young girls do!

I am still on a high from my overnight shopping/bargain hunting. We have really tightened our belts this year with Al leaving work just over a year early. It was a delight to see those receipts where they list how much you paid and how much you saved. I think I managed to pull off completely balancing out the amounts we tightened this year versus what we usually give. Yay!!!

I even managed to find the Lego on at 30% off...Horse vet and Lego horse stable for Little Miss C's present from us and then found some stamps, a teensy flower punch and 2 sets of spectrum noir pens for her stocking.
Her Mum got her another 2 sets so she will be colouring up a storm in the school Xmas break!

Little Mr P is getting the Lego City, hot wheels wall tracks and a rocket ship that makes a lot of noise...my daughter might murder me by New Years!!!!!

I've been thinking about you today - and lo and behold you leave a comment on my post! Hugs to you my friend (and Len).

Your Christmas card looks great. I could see where that die might be a tough one to get out - but glad it came out smoothly.

Just went to see the new Bond movie. I'm so disappointed with one thing that happened. Bugger.

    Hugs,
