A touch of the Orient

Apparently, if you watch certain craft shows on tee vee, we're going back into the 'Oriental look' - that totally serves me right for throwing, yes throwing, out some oriental papers just last week :(

This is a card I rustled up yesterday:
I used:

- 6" x 6" square card stock

- Penny Black Stickeroos from the 'Unfolding' sheet

- totally perfectly matching backing paper (even if I say it meself) - from the Prima 'Firefly' paper stack

- green and maroon plain backing card behind the Stickeroos

- black Josy Rose nail heads

So it was really just a matter of picking, matching, cutting and sticking :)

I can see we're gonna have to have a Snippets Playground draw for some Stickeroos soon! I'm off to have a hunt on the internet to see what I can find :))

  2. Lovely card, Di. I shall have to look out my Robert Adams and Joanna Sheen CDRoms. I don't think I have anything else. There is a rule for all crafters/hoarders, the minute you throw something away, the next day is when you need it. We have all been there. However, why do we follow so- called trends, which are just the idea of someone else to make us part with more money. In 2013,we should set our own trends, which could be to use up whatever we have most of. You never know, the trendsetters might follow us. xx Maggie

  11. Don't often read other people's comments incase they have said what I was going to say, then I'm stumped for words (yes I am) but I have to say I agree with Maggie and seeing as how I have just gone another year older I am going to use what I want to and not feel that I have to follow the trend don't care if I am old fashioned.
BUT this is a lovely card Di those Prima papers are lush and match so very well, love the idea of the black nail heads too.

  16. Oh, Di, you didn't throw oriental papers away! Just when all things oriental are becoming trendy again. My gran used to say that if you kept something seven years it would be back in fashion ... she knew a thing or two did my old gran :)

Seriously, lovely card. Lovely background and the blossom is beautiful.

Clearly PB know that there is going to be an oriental revival. It always worries me that I've got the characters the right way up - think of the blushes if they were upside down. And you have to take it in faith that the characters stood for something nice!!

Of to rustle up a Rudolph Day card now. Hugs, Elizabeth xx

  20. Who said? I think I'm going to start another blog called "They.com" I can't be the only one wondering all these years who "they" are who tell us what's what and what's in and what's out. People could come to They.com and tell me "what for"!!

I sound all outraged, but truth is, I'm a sheep and if it's Asian "they" want, I just happen to have a few of those stamps I inherited from my neighbor who lived for a few years in Japan. I've never used them, but never had the heart to get rid of them, so maybe I will get to it now! I feel badly for you that you needed those paper so soon after you tossed them. Horrors.

Among my PBS, tho, I don't have this lovely blossom and what a stunning card you've made with it, Di!!
